Nagpur gets 2 medical shots – NIPER & Medical Devices Park

Nagpur: The Chief Minister Devendra made a series of announcements on Monday, which mainly includes opening National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) along with a new Medical Devices Park in Nagpur. NIPER is a national level top class pharmacy education institute.

National Institute of Pharma Educational Research (NIPER) will be set up at Nagpur, Fadnavis said, adding a Central team will visit the city in this regard by May end.

Union finance minister Arun Jaitely in his 2014 budget speech had announced setting up of NIPER in Maharashtra. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had expressed his desire to set up NIPER in Nagpur. The decision has come at a time when Narendra Modi government has completed 2 years at the Centre.

According to the top officials of DTE, the academic session of NIPER is expected to start from 2018-19. Deputy director DTE Gulabrao Thakre said, we were waiting for the nod from the government. And the further procedure in starting the institute will be done as soon as the nod is given by the government.

46 acre land finalised on Amravati road

A committee was formed in April 2015 under the chairmanship of VK Maurya. The committee had finalised a 46 acre land at Mohgaon on Amravati road. Deputy director of DTE Gulabrao Thakre was also the member of the committee. A ‘ Detailed Project Report’ of the NIPER land was also submitted to the State government.

Nagpur wrests Institute from W. Maharashtra, Konkan

Earlier it was speculated that NIPER would go to western Maharashtra or Konkan, however, CM’s announcement has put to rest all speculations in this regard. The government had also asked the deputy director, directorate of technical education to appoint a committee for searching a suitable land for the institute.
