Nagpur: Four booked for cheating senior citizen of Rs 50.5 lakh in fake plot deal

Nagpur: Jaripatka police have registered a case against four persons for allegedly cheating a 60-year-old man of more than Rs 50.50 lakh by selling him plots using forged documents.

According to police, the complainant Yesheerajyam Raghunath Narayanswami (60), a resident of Guru Govind Vihar, Kushinagar, Jaripatka, knew accused No. 4, who worked as a property broker. Between July 15, 2020 and July 7, 2022, the broker showed the complainant Plot No. 1 and 2, located at Khasra No. 34/1, Indora (Mouza), Misal Layout, Ward No. 57. The complainant liked the plots and agreed to purchase them.

The accused have been identified as Ashish Waman Belekar (42), Nalini Waman Belekar (65), Indrayani Atul Wasnik (40), all residents of NIT Colony, Vaishali Nagar, Jaripatka, and Jitu Thakur alias Jitendra Ghevtonde (broker), resident of Gorewada, Nagpur.

Police said the four accused conspired together and told the complainant that the plots belonged to accused Nalini Belekar. They finalised the deal at Rs 1.60 crore.

Trusting the accused, the complainant paid Rs 60,50,000 through RTGS and cheques as per the agreement. However, when he later verified the documents provided by the accused, including the sale deed agreement, possession receipt, and no-objection certificates, he discovered that all papers were fake and fabricated.

When the complainant demanded his money back, the accused returned only Rs 10 lakh and failed to refund the remaining amount. Police said the accused prepared forged documents of someone else’s property, executed a fraudulent agreement, and cheated the complainant of Rs 50.50 lakh.

Based on the complaint and preliminary inquiry, Woman API Mangala Wakde registered an offence at Jaripatka Police Station under Sections 318(4), 316(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
