Nagpur: Winter appears to be making its first noticeable approach towards Nagpur, with residents experiencing a mild chill during early mornings and late evenings as night temperatures fall. Clear skies are contributing to the growing difference between daytime warmth and cooler conditions after sunset.
Nagpur recorded a minimum temperature of 18.8°C on Friday, among the lowest in Vidarbha. The city’s maximum temperature remained at 33.8°C over the preceding three days, around 1.1°C above normal.
The night temperature reportedly dropped by 2°C within 24 hours, giving residents an early taste of winter during the second half of October.
Nagpur among the cooler places in Vidarbha
The cooling trend has also been noticeable in other parts of the region. Gondia and Yavatmal recorded minimum temperatures of 17°C on Friday, while Washim registered 19°C. Akola reported the region’s highest minimum temperature at 23.6°C.
The contrast between warm afternoons and cooler mornings is becoming more pronounced, particularly for people stepping out early for work, morning walks and other outdoor activities.

A gradual seasonal transition
The present weather pattern reflects the seasonal transition towards winter, when clearer skies can allow temperatures to fall more noticeably overnight even as afternoons remain warm.
For residents, the coming days may mean comfortable early mornings followed by relatively warm afternoons. Light layers of clothing during early outings may be useful, particularly for children and older people who are more sensitive to temperature changes.
For now, the chill remains mild rather than severe. However, if minimum temperatures continue to decline, Nagpur could begin experiencing a more pronounced winter feel in the weeks ahead.
