Nagpur Divn of CR mops up Rs 1.41 cr during special drive against WT travel

Nagpur: The Nagpur Division of Central Railway (CR) mopped up Rs 1.41 crore during a special drive conducted against persons travelling without tickets/irregular tickets as well as passengers travelling without booking the excess luggage. The drive, undertaken during the period from April 1 to April 30, 2016, detected 28,984 cases of travelling without booking luggage and without tickets/irregular tickets and recovered Rs 1.41 crore from the offenders an increase of 4 and 11 percent respectively as compared to 27,882 cases and recovery of Rs 1.27 crore during the corresponding period last year.

The drive against irregular ticket travel in 18,607 cases in the same period led to recovery of Rs 96.51 lakh which is an increase of 5.8 and 13.5 percent respectively as during the corresponding period last year 17,587 cases were detected and Rs 85 lakh were recovered.

Similarly, 8128 cases of without ticket were detected and Rs 42.50 lakh were recovered, an increase of 15.3 and 11 percent as compared to last year. During the same period last year, 7051 persons were caught travelling without tickets and a fine of Rs 38.31 lakh was recoverted.

The drive was initiated under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Brujesh Kumar Gupta and was led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K K Mishra.

Special drive:
A special ticket checking drive was undertaken between Nagpur-Wardha-Badnera of Nagpur Division of Central Railway on May 11, 2016. On the single day, 252 cases of travelling without ticket/irregular ticket and travelling without booking excess luggage were detected and Rs 97,675 were recovered towards penalty.
