Nagpur Crime Branch apprehends 3 accused with Rs 60 lakhs worth of cocaine

Biggest haul in Nagpur city so far

: While adding another feather to their caps, the sleuths of Nagpur Crime Branch nabbed three accused with Rs 60 lakhs worth of Cocaine (Cocaine, also known as benzoylmethylecgonine or coke) on March 15, 2016. While the citizens were busy in the cricket match between India and New-Zealand, some unscrupulous elements were trying to transport and sell one of the most commonly recreational drugs used by the rich and party animals.

While addressing the media personnel Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Sharma said that this is one of the largest haul of Cocaine and an action was initiated under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS).

The accused have been identified as

  1. Pramod Rambhau Rawade aged 33 years and resident of Plot No 13, Pawan Shakti Nagar, Nandanwan Nagpur.
  2. Tushar Madhukarrao Hande aged 22 years and a resident of Plot No 65, Shravan Nagar, Nandanwan Nagpur.
  3. Mahendra Tulsiram Ladukar aged 23 years and a resident of Rajendra Nagar Square, Nandanwan Nagpur.

The cops of the Crime Branch had received a secret tip off that a large quantity of a white substance (Cocaine) is slated to be delivered somewhere in the city. DCP Ranjan Sharma said that under his directions, a team of cops had nabbed the three accused with a packet weighing one kilogram in a pink plastic packet.

When the white powder was subjected to the Narcotic tests using Narcotic Drug Detection Kit (procured specially from Mumbai), it was confirmed that the white powder is cocaine.

In this case, in order to ensure that no evidence is tampered, a digital evidence was also collected by Video-shooting the entire proceedings.

In all the cops recovered Cocaine worth Rs 60 lakhs, a motorcycle worth Rs 40,000/- and a mobile worth Rs 5000/- totaling Rs 60, 45,000/- (Rupees Sixty lakhs forty five thousand). Police Sub Inspector Narendra Giri is the complainant in NDPS case.

The Crime Branch has registered a case under Case No 3271/16 under NDPS Act 21 (C) and 29 against the accused.

The above crime detection and action was initiated under the directions of Commissioner of Police S P Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police Rajwardhane, Additional Commissioner of Police and DCP (Crime) Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nilesh Raut by Investigation Officer of the case Deepak Khobragade of NDPS Squad, Crime Branch, Nagpur.

The other cops who were actively involved in the apprehension of the accused include Police Sub Inspector Mushtaq Sheikh, Nitin Rangne, Kishore Mahant, Tulsi Shukla, Dutta Gugal, Rubina Sheikh and  Police Sub Inspector Suryavanshi of Special Squad.
