Nagpur: The Nagpur Crime Branch launched a major crackdown against crime and illegal activities across the city between September 22 and 23, targeting burglary, vehicle theft, illegal liquor, gambling, drugs, weapons and tobacco-related offences.
Under the leadership of DCP Deepak Agrawal, teams from the Crime Branch carried out multiple operations over two days, detecting 30 cases and arresting more than 25 accused. Property worth approximately ₹13.37 lakh was seized during the operations.

Five Burglary and Vehicle Theft Cases Detected
Crime Branch teams detected five cases involving burglary and vehicle theft and recovered six stolen vehicles. The estimated value of the recovered property is around ₹9.30 lakh.
The action has intensified the police crackdown on suspects allegedly involved in theft and burglary-related offences.
11 Actions Against Illegal Liquor
The Crime Branch also conducted 11 operations against the illegal liquor trade, seizing liquor worth approximately ₹27,570.
Police initiated legal action against individuals allegedly involved in the illegal sale and storage of liquor.
In addition, police registered four cases under Section 68 against persons allegedly providing premises for illegal consumption of liquor. Property worth ₹43,650 was seized in these cases.
Raids on Gambling Activities
The Crime Branch also conducted raids against gambling activities in the city. Two actions were taken under the Gambling Act, resulting in the seizure of property and cash worth approximately ₹3.36 lakh.
Sword Seized From Accused
As part of the crackdown on illegal weapons, Crime Branch personnel took action in one case involving a person allegedly carrying a sword. The weapon, valued at approximately ₹500, was seized and a case was registered under the relevant provisions.
Action Against Drugs and Tobacco
The Crime Branch also conducted one action under the NDPS Act and three actions under the COTPA Act against the illegal sale of tobacco products.
Police also took action against three hotel and lodge operators for allegedly using the OYO logo without authorisation, registering cases in the matter.
Crackdown Across Multiple Offences
The two-day operation covered a range of offences, including vehicle theft, burglary, illegal liquor, gambling, illegal weapons, drugs, tobacco products and violations by hotel and lodge operators.
According to police, a total of 30 cases were detected and more than 25 accused were arrested, while property worth approximately ₹13.37 lakh was seized.
Crime Branch officials said similar action against criminal activities and illegal businesses in the city will continue, with particular focus on theft, vehicle theft, illegal weapons, drugs and other unlawful activities.
