Acting on specific intelligence, teams from Old Kamptee Police Station, under PI Prashant Jumade, and New Kamptee Police Station, led by PI Mahesh Andhare, conducted the raid near the Bhaji Mandi area. This large-scale rescue operation comes in the wake of increased surveillance by Nagpur Police during Eid al-Adha, a time when illegal cattle smuggling typically sees a surge. As a preventive measure, Sadar Police recently externed seven known cattle smugglers for 15 days.

Under the leadership of Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, city police have intensified efforts to clamp down on unlawful cattle transport and slaughter activities across Nagpur and its outskirts.
