Nagpur: In a bid to promote clean and safe food practices, the Central Health Ministry of the Government of India has proposed the development of 100 ‘Food Streets’ across the country. Among the cities selected for this initiative are Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, and Thane in Maharashtra.
On Wednesday, August 14, Nagpur Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari conducted a site inspection for the proposed ‘Food Street’ in Nagpur. The location near the Radisson Blu Hotel and Narendra Nagar Bridge has been proposed by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for the development of this ‘Smart Food Hub.’
The ‘Smart Food Hub’ will feature 20 stalls equipped with modern technology. The project is set to receive ₹1 crore in financial assistance from the central government under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM).
During the inspection, Dr. Chaudhari instructed the officials to prepare a detailed proposal for the development of the ‘Food Hub’ at the selected site. He was accompanied by Executive Engineer Mrs. Alpana Patne, Medical Health Officer Dr. Deepak Selokar, Deputy Engineers Pankaj Parashar and Rajiv Gautam, and Architect Mrs. Rashi Bawankule.
