City youth has once again brought laurels to the city by clinching the 14th place in UPSC examinations. Everybody agrees to the fact that attempting and clearing UPSC is a herculean task. To figure in the list of top 20 is even greater achievement.

Vipin Itankar, is said to have secured 14th rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2013. The results were declared on June 12, 2014.

Three more candidates from Nagpur who figure in the list of those who cleared the UPSC examinations include Aawesh Titarmare who secured 469th position, Arpit Gudade secures 922nd position and Ankur Meshram secures 1084th position in the UPSC exams.

These candidates have struggled to make a niche for themselves by clearing the elite UPSC examinations.

This time, the result displays pan-India distribution of successful candidates. Among the top 25, there are candidates from 11 states & union territories. The successful candidates are appointed in Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’. Out of total 1122 successful candidates, 517 candidates are from General Category, 326 OBC, 187 SC and 92 are from ST category. The number of vacancies reported by the government to be filled are 1228.

He said, these candidates have proved their mettle by being successful in most tough and challenging examination in the country. There is dire need of efficient administrative officers and CM expressed confidence that these candidates will leave their mark wherever they serve.

For some years, more and more candidates from Maharashtra are appearing for UPSC exam and many are successfully clearing the exam. This is definitely a very good sign for Maharashtra.

Maharashtra government is also providing coaching to students who appear for this examination. In future, more stress will be given to such coaching, assured chief minister.
