Nagpur: As preparations intensify for the upcoming municipal elections, the BJP has adopted a strict approach toward ticket distribution this time. The party is seriously considering denying tickets to former corporators who were found inactive in internal reviews and ground-level surveys.

The BJP has accelerated its search for potential candidates for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections by launching an extensive survey. This assessment covers the performance of former corporators, their public outreach, activity in their wards, and contributions to the organization. Initial survey findings indicate that several former corporators failed to maintain visibility, did not engage with local residents, and carried out no notable developmental or organizational work over the last five years. Such corporators are now seen as strong contenders for ticket cancellation.

According to sources, the BJP is also collecting feedback from workers and local citizens at the ward and city levels. Many complaints suggest that some corporators went missing after winning the previous election and paid little attention to developmental work in their wards. This feedback has pushed the party to prioritize “activeness” as a key criterion for ticket allocation.

The party has already begun conducting interviews at the in-charge and co-in-charge levels. These interviews evaluate a candidate’s organizational involvement, public accessibility, outreach efforts, and future action plans. Party leaders believe that giving tickets to inactive corporators would send the wrong message to voters and may impact election results.

There is strong chatter within party circles that several former corporators are almost certain to be dropped, as they failed to match the party’s expectations in terms of visibility and performance. The BJP is reportedly leaning toward promoting new faces and workers with strong public connect, aiming to strengthen the organization’s image and regain public trust.
