Nagpur News : Samajwadi Party has registered its sharp opposition to the proposal regarding the demand to change the name of Shivaji Park in Mumbai to Shiv Tirth in order to pay tribute to the bereaved Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray. SP MLA Abu Azmi, who is in Nagpur to attend the assembly session said that the people in general and in particular know the place as Shivaji Park. The name exists in the minds of all of us, he said adding that under such circumstances the change in name could not be justified.
He said that if Shiv Sena wanted to create something in the name of its supremo, then the party should develop new place and name it accordingly. “Why an old ground is being renamed for this?”, he questioned.
He pressed that under no condition the name of Shivaji Park should be changed.
