Nagpur: Facing intense summer heat and thinning afternoon traffic, Nagpur Traffic Police has rolled out a major on-ground change: 31 key traffic signals will switch to red blinker mode daily from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The decision comes as temperatures hover around 40°C, making long waits at signals both uncomfortable and unnecessary during low-traffic hours.
What Changes for Commuters
Instead of the usual signal cycle, these junctions will now follow:
- Stop → Observe → Proceed
This is not a free pass. Drivers must slow down, check all directions, and move carefully.
Strict Rule
- Speed limit: 20 km/h
- Overspeeding or careless crossing can invite penalties.
