Nagpur: A bizarre attempt to mislead the police came to light in the Hudkeshwar area after a man allegedly made seven to eight repeated calls to Dial-112, claiming that his brother had stabbed him and that his life was in danger. When police rushed to the spot, however, they found no evidence of any stabbing or murder attempt.
The incident occurred around 8 pm on September 18 in Shri Krishna Nagar under Hudkeshwar police station limits.

According to police, 40-year-old Shyam Bhaurao Janorkar, a resident of the area, repeatedly contacted the emergency helpline and made the alarming claim that his brother had attacked him with a knife.
Given the seriousness of the information, the Hudkeshwar police immediately mobilised a team to verify the complaint.
Acting on the directions of Senior Police Inspector Anamika Mirzapure, Sub-Inspector Pravin Bakare, policemen Ravidutt Tambe and Ashish, along with Beat Marshal Head Constable Someshwar Bulbule, reached the location.
Instead of finding an injured man or a crime scene, the police found Janorkar unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his repeated calls. During questioning, he allegedly gave evasive answers.
Police conducted an on-the-spot verification but found no evidence of a knife attack or any attempted murder as claimed in the emergency calls.
The incident subsequently emerged as an alleged deliberate attempt to mislead the police machinery by providing false information through the emergency helpline.
Following the inquiry, Sub-Inspector Pravin Bakare registered a case against Janorkar under Section 217 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on the complaint of Head Constable Someshwar Bulbule.
Police have launched further legal proceedings in the matter.
The incident has also highlighted the consequences of misusing emergency response systems, as repeated false alerts can divert police personnel and resources from genuine emergencies.
