Municipal Commissioner reviews ITMS project rollout

Nagpur: Ahead of rollout of the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) for real time monitoring of vehicular traffic flow on Nagpur streets, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari on Tuesday inspected the arrangement. Municipal Commissioner visited the Command and Control Centre (CoC) of Nagpur City Police to take a look at the functioning of the system.

The system mainstay is artificial intelligence (AI) and same is going to come handy for handling the rotation of traffic signals after analysing the traffic flow to avoid long wait for the commuters. Commissioner later also inspected the instruments affixed at Ladies Club Square and earlier at CoC where the engineers briefed about their functions. NMC is going to affix the ITMS at about 171 squares throughout the city to keep watch on the traffic flow and monitor the same.

The CoC will be equipped with the server to store the captured data. At the CoC, the Commissioner was informed about the working of batteries, working of NoC room, and the surveillance room and its functions. One of the main aims of ITMS is also rein in violations of traffic rules and Commissioner was given the demonstration. Once the system goes live, it can also be used to create a green corridor when required.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Vaishnavi B, Executive Engineer (Electrical) Rajendra Rathod, Assistant Engineer Bhasme, Junior Engineers Rajat Mali, Sagar Malvi, Ajay Ramteke and other staff of civic body were present during Commissioner’s visit.
