Nagpur: If you’ve recently received a higher-than-expected electricity bill or have doubts about your new smart meter, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is giving consumers an opportunity to get their concerns resolved.

On Wednesday, MSEDCL is organising special Smart Meter Consumer Help Camps across Nagpur from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, where consumers can have their electricity bills verified, understand how Time-of-Day (ToD) Smart Meters work, and seek clarification directly from MSEDCL officials.

The initiative comes after several consumers complained about higher electricity bills following the installation of smart meters. MSEDCL says the camps are intended to clear misconceptions, explain the billing process, and resolve consumer grievances.

What You Can Do at the Camp

Consumers can visit any of the camps to:

Get their electricity bill checked and explained.
Understand how Smart ToD meters calculate electricity consumption.
Learn about Time-of-Day tariffs and applicable rebates.
Resolve doubts regarding meter readings and billing.
Interact directly with Deputy Engineers and MSEDCL technical staff.

According to MSEDCL, consumers using electricity during designated daytime hours can receive a rebate of 85 paise per unit under the Time-of-Day tariff.
