Nagpur: In a tragic turn of events on the eve of Mother’s Day, a 42-year-old woman identified as Surekha Suresh Dagre, took her own life by consuming poison. The incident occurred following a heated quarrel with her children, sending shockwaves through the Second Capital of the State. Surekha used to operate a Chinese food stall in Kotwali area
According to police, the dispute initially erupted between Surekha and her daughter on May 9. The daughter resided at her maternal home along with her son. Later, tension escalated as Surekha’s son also engaged in an argument with his mother before leaving for work.
During the altercation, Surekha’s daughter received a call from her distraught mother, urging her to return home. When the daughter rushed back, she discovered her mother missing from the house. Frantic with worry, she hurriedly made her way to the Chinese food stall that Surekha owned.
To her utmost horror, the daughter found Surekha lying unconscious at the food stall. Without wasting a moment, she swiftly transported her mother to the nearest hospital, desperately hoping for a miracle. However, tragically, Surekha succumbed to the poison and breathed her last on Saturday.
The Kotwali Police Station’s PSI Mahendra Wasnik revealed that the authorities were currently in the process of recording statements from family members in order to determine the exact cause that led to Surekha’s devastating decision. As of now, a case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
