Nagpur: The Indian Meteorological Department says that the monsoon has arrived in Kerala.
While Kerala and Karnataka have been receiving plenty of rainfall for the past 10 days, the onset of monsoon was announced on June 9. The Met however announced that the monsoon has hit Kerala today.
This marks the beginning of the rainy season in India.
The IMD had last month said the arrival of monsoon over Kerala would be delayed by about a week from its normal date of June 1. It had said the onset was likely to happen on June 7 with the possibility that it could come four days ahead or beyond that date.
