Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on Wednesday stayed the orders passed by Collectors of Nagpur, Washim, Buldhana, Akola for closure of all Liquor Vendor’s establishments in the wake of Elections of Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC).
The order issued by Collectors of Washington, Buldhana, Akola including Nagpur District Collector R Vimla had announced that there will be no sale of liquor from 4 pm of December 8 till 4 pm of December 10. The ban had been imposed in view of biennial elections of MLC in Nagpur. However, the HC bench comprising Justice Gharote stayed the decision.
The wine shops and bars were meant to be closed from Wednesday evening from 4 pm till 4 pm of December 10 on account of MLC Elections & ordered that Liquor vending shall remain close till 5 pm of polling day i.e. on December 12 & on declaration of results on counting day i.e. December 14.
