Nagpur: In a major boost to the Nagpur’s anti-tuberculosis campaign, MIHAN India Limited has extended financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the Health Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The fund will be utilized by the TB Prevention and Control Division of NMC.
The cheque was formally handed over by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at a recent event. The programme was attended by the Municipal Commissioner, senior officials from the Health Department, and representatives of MIHAN India Limited.
NMC has already been running multiple initiatives under the “TB-Mukt Nagpur Abhiyan”. Officials said the CSR support will further strengthen diagnostic facilities, treatment services, and public awareness campaigns in the coming months.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Fadnavis stressed the importance of joint efforts in eliminating tuberculosis. “TB eradication is a key commitment of both the Central and State governments. To achieve the goal of making India TB-free by 2025, it is crucial that private organizations also come forward along with government machinery. The initiative taken by MIHAN India Limited is a commendable example of social responsibility,” he said.
Meanwhile, NMC Commissioner expressed confidence that the new funding would enhance existing health services and give greater momentum to the city’s anti-TB mission. He added that NMC continues to provide free services for early diagnosis and timely treatment of the infectious disease.
