Middle Level Commanders & Staff Officers Law Course, Ser-46 (MLSC-46) Course concludes at IML, Kamptee

The valedictory function of Middle Level Commanders & Staff Officers Law Course, Ser-46 (MLSC-46) was held on 20 Aug 2016 at Institute of Military Law, Kamptee. The function was presided by over Justice SB Shukre of Bombay High Court, Nagpur Bench. Justice SB Shukre in his address to the officers emphasized on the importance of knowledge of law in successful discharge of their duties. He exhorted student officers to have clarity of thought before taking any action. He emphasised that every decision should be based on sound reasoning as all the actions of disciplinary authorities are subject to judicial review. Justice SB Shukre congratulated all the officers for successful completion of the course.

38 Officers of Indian Army were trained in practical application of law to the ground situations, conduct of Court of Inquiry, Framing of Charges, Conduct of Summary Trials and Courts Martial. The course was also addressed by distinguished professor of Nagpur University viz Dr Adhara Deshpande and Dr. CB Pande.

Lt Col YS Yadav stood First in the order of overall merit and was awarded “The Director General of Military Intelligence (DGMI) Running Trophy”. Lt Col Rishma Sarin stood second in the order of overall merit and was awarded “The Commandant’s Running Trophy”.

In his Closing Address, Brig Vijay Kumar Commandant, IML emphasized that the law being a dynamic subject is in constant state of flux and the officers are required to keep themselves updated about the changes in the law. The officers are also required to apply law in an objective and judicious manner while handling disciplinary cases and ensure that Justice is done. In the end, he wished the officers good luck for their future endeavours.
