Nagpur: In view of General Body Meeting of Nagpur Municipal Corporation slated to be held on Friday, November 30 to discuss acute water problem, Mayor Nanda Jichkar reviewed availability of drinking water and stock the other day.

The Mayor directed officials from Water Works Department to start preparations to handle difficult situation during summer. She expressed displeasure over non-cleaning of 343 wells out of total 784 wells as suggested by Water Works Committee to Public Works Department recently. Instead of cleaning water, the department has flushed water from the well.

Jichkar instructed the Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar to take a review within a week. In the meeting, The Mayor said, Nagpur city is receiving water from Pench reservoir. Additional water will be supplied from Gorewada water storage. However, Pench reservoir does not have sufficient water due to construction of Chourai dam in Madhya Pradesh.
