A new chapter has begun in the City Bus Service, when Nagpur Municipal Corporation started a Green Bus service with the help of Scania Company to run bus on Ethanol from Morris College (Sanvidhan Square) to Khapri.
On November 17, 2014, Mayor of Nagpur city Praveen Datke cut the ribbon and flagged off the bus to mark the inauguration of the Green Bus which will ferry passengers from Morris College (Sanvidhan Square) to Khapri via Airport road.
On this occasion Chairman of the Transport Committee Sudhir (Bandu) Raut, NIT Trustee and Corporator Dr Ravindra (Chotu) Bhoyar, Chairman of Health Committee Ramesh Singare, Chairman of Gandhibagh Zone Ramesh Punekar, BSP Leader and Corporator Murlidhar Meshram, Corporators Satish Holay, Prakash Totwani, Sharad Bante, Manisha Kote, Sarika Nandurkar, Deputy Commissioner & Transport Manager Sanjay Kakde, Former Corporator Prabhu Arkhel and Vishawajit Kumar, Chandrabhan Udas of Scania Company. Traffic Manager of Transport Department in Nagpur Municipal Corporation Sukhir Sontakke, Vijay Chaurasia. Kaustabh Chatterjee, Surbhi Jaiswal, Pragya Naidu, Rahul Rathod, Vishwadev Yadav, Mehun Kosurkar of Green Vigil was present.
According to the Central Government directives, the bus which is running on an alternate fuel called Ethanol other than Diesel got an approval two months ago. After receiving permissions and clearances from Road Transport Office, the bus is now dedicated to the service of the masses from Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
The Bus Number MH-31/BS 6337 Fully Air-Conditioned Bus starting from Morris College and ending at Khapri. The bus will take a total of 19 rounds from 06:00 (6 am) to 19:30 (7:30 pm) per day.

The bus will halt at Morris College, Variety Square, Panchasheel Square, Rahate Colony, Chatrapati Square, Somalwada, Airport, Chinchbhavan and finally at Khapri).
The fare of the bus will be as follows:
- For the first 2-4 kilometers Rs 10 (kids will be charged half ticket of Rs 5)
- For 6 kilometers Rs 11
- For 8 kilometers Rs 13
- For 10 kilometers Rs 15
- For 12 kilometers Rs 18
- For 14 kilometers Rs 21
- For 16 kilometers Rs 25 (kids will be charged half ticket of Rs 13)
This bus will run on a trial basis for one week and the commuters will be charged according to the rate mentioned above.
