Mayor directs Health Deptt to issue ‘Smart Identity Cards’ to sanitation workers

Taking a serious note of deluge of complaints, the Mayor Nanda Mayor has directed the Health Department to issue ‘Chip’ laced ‘Smart Identity Cards’ to sanitation workers. The ‘Smart Card’ would ensure correct information regarding duty reporting timing and exit timing as well as place of work in wards of the regular as well as temporary sanitation workers, the Mayor said while reviewing working of Health Department on Thursday. The meeting was held in the hall of New Administrative Building of NMC.

Others present in the meeting include Ruling Party Leader Sandeep Joshi, the designated Chairman of Standing Committee Sandeep Jadhav, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Ramnath Sonavane, Additional Deputy Engineer Jayant Dandegaonkar, Health Officer (Sanitation) Dr Pradeep Dasarwar, Health Officer (M) Dr Anil Chivhane, Veterinary Officer Dr Gajendra Mahalle, Malaria-Filaria Officer Jayashri Thote and officials of all 10 zones.

The Mayor further said that Health Department is the most important department as it directly relates to the well-being of the citizens. Hence taking note of complaints regarding sewer line chokage, cleansing of nallahs before the onset of monsoon etc and initiating action to resolve the complaints is the responsibility of the Health Department. “Nagpur is known as Smart City so the expectations of citizens are high. The Health Department should live up to the expectations,” Jichkar said.

The meeting reviewed solid waste management, hospitals, waste treatment, river-nallah cleaning, stray dog menace, status at crematoriums, and also various schemes being implement by the local body. Sandeep Joshi sought to know detailed information regarding “Parisar Palakatva.”
