New Delhi/Nagpur:
In a recent Union Cabinet meeting, Union Minister Maneka Gandhi pleaded strongly for saving an elephant in Delhi and told the cabinet about the extra constitutional act of Lt Governor Najeeb Jung by holding a court to ensure the elephant was sent to the forest. Though it is not a subject matter of discussion, Maneka’s voice was heard by Prime Minister Modi who wanted to know the real story. It was at the intervention of Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha that the elepahnt issue was resolved. Jung has a quasi judicial authority as administrator of Delhi and holds court on weekdays.
