Mandsaur: Madhya Pradesh home minister Bhupendra Singh accepted today that the death of the five farmers in Mandsaur was due to police firing. He had denied it earlier. The HM told ANI that it has been established in a probe that the farmers were killed in police firing. The postmortem report of farmers killed in Mandsaur firing has been handed over to the inquiry committee, marks of bullets found on bodies, reports ANI.

The farmers have all along maintained that Tuesday’s protests which claimed the lives of five farmers was due to police firing after protestors turned violent, throwing rocks at the police and setting vehicles on fire.

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government is believed to be considering waiving interest on farm loans, but not loan waivers which could benefit over six lakh farmers at a cost of around Rs 2,000 crore to the taxpayer.
