With the new year round the corner when consumption of alcohol goes through the roof, reports of violent crimes attributed to liquor are already coming in.
Yesterday night Sheikh Sajid Sheikh, just 21 years old resident of Taj Bagh hit Sikandar Ali Mukaddar on his head with a wooden plant inflicting serious injuries when the latter refused to pay for his liquor. Ali Mukkadar lives in the Badi Masjid area of Old Mangalwari. The murder attempt happened on Naik road, near Ramshila Agency and in front of the residence of Shashikant Kulkarni late at night.
PSI Atram of Kotwali police station reached on the spot and apprehended the accused.
