The deceased, Jitendra alias Jiddi Arun Gujar, was a resident of Devi Nagar. Cops took accused Dinesh Bawankar (26), a resident of Devi Nagar, into custody. Cops also rounded up Dinesh’s father Anandrao Bawankar in the case.

According to police sources, accused Dinesh and his family own a pan kiosk at Sangharsh Nagar. Police said none of them had a criminal record. It’s learnt Gurjar, who worked for a decoration contractor, had a tiff with Anandrao after the elderly man refused to give him free ‘kharra’ from the pan kiosk. This angered Gurjar, who slapped Anandrao. An angry Anandrao rushed home and told his son Dinesh.

Dinesh, who was under the influence of alcohol, waited to meet the victim. Dinesh and his father Anandrao pounced upon Gurjar and stabbed him in the neck. Before Jitendra could get any medical assistance, he succumbed to his injuries.

Staff from Wathoda Police Station led by Senior PI Vijay Dighe visited the spot. Police sent the body to Government Medical College & Hospital for post-mortem.
