Man stabbed to death by ‘younger brother’ over money

Nagpur: A 45-year old man was murdered by his ‘younger brother’ after a brawl over money. The incident occurred in Ashirwad Nagar under jurisdiction of Sakkardara Police Station on Saturday or in the wee hours of Sunday. Cops succeeded in arresting the accused murderer within hours of the crime.

The deceased, Kabir alias Anna Ravan Durai (45), a resident of New Mhalagi Nagar and the accused – Navin Suresh Gotefode (27), a resident of Deshpande Layout, Hiwri Nagar, were in relations as brothers. According to police, Navin’s father Suresh Gotefode used to run catering business at Mumbai a few years ago. He found Kabir on roadside in Mumbai and adopted him and offered shelter to him. Suresh along with family later shifted to Nagpur a decade ago. Kabir was living with Suresh’s family in Nagpur as well.

The accused Navin had taken admission in an engineering college but could not complete education due to financial crunch. He was living in Puneand working at a Cal lCentre there. He came to Nagpur two months ago. Kabir was running a stall in Hudkeshwar. For the past few days, Navin was asking for Rs 10,000 from Kabir who refused to part with the money. On Saturday night, Navin again demanded Rs 10,000 from Kabir but when Kabir refused, he lost his cool. He attacked Kabir with a knife and inflicted stab injuries on his chest. Kabir died on the spot. The knife was removed from Kabir’s body during post-mortem.

Acting on the information, cops swung into action and after seeking whereabouts of Navin nabbed him from Tajbagh area within hours of the murder.

Sakkardara PSI J S Tiwari has booked the accused Navin Gotefode under Section 302 of the IPC. Further probe is on.

The swift arrest was made under the guidance of DCP Zone 4 S Chaitanya, ACP (Sakkardara) Kapgate, Senior PI Sandipan Pawar by PSIs Manoj Orke, Manish Hiwarkar and staff Sanjay Sonawne, Sanjay Thakur, Anand Jarjule, Shalikram Shende, Sandip Borsare,Rahul Warkhade, Ashish Nagardhane, Atul Mane, Nitin Bawne and Pawan Lambat.
