Man smashes ICICI Bank ATM machine on CA Road, tries to steal cash; arrested

Nagpur: In an audacious act, a young man hailing from Chandrapur entered the ATM Centre of ICICI Bank on CA Road with gas cutter and big stone and tried to steal cash by smashing the machine on Tuesday night. However, the accused could not succeed in in his bid and was later arrested by Kotwali cops.

The accused Dhammadeep Purshottam Barsagde (26) is native of Azad Ward, Chandrapur. Around 11.45 pm on Tuesday, he entered ICICI Bank’s ATM Centre situated on CA Road with gas cutter and stone. He cut open vital parts of the ATM machine and also smashed it with the stone with the intention of stealing cash.

However, his attempt proved futile as he could not succeed in penetrating the coupes where cash was stacked for dispensation. On the contrary the accused Dhammadeep was spotted by the guard of the ATM Centre Monu Khamraj Dharpure (26), resident of Pattharfod Dargah, Mahal, who immediately informed Kotwali police.

Kotwali Woman PSI V D Wadaskar booked the accused Dhammadeep Barsagde under Sections 380, 511, 427 of the IPC and arrested him.
