Nagpur: A 32-year old man enticed a woman with marriage promise and raped her repeatedly over a period of four years. The accused man not only raped the woman but also photographed his heinous act and later blackmailed her with a threat of making the photos public. The evil-minded man also threatened to kill the woman and her family members if they persisted with marriage demand.
The accused, Himanshu Sunil Umbarkar (32), resident of Hanuman Nagar, with nefarious designs in mind, first extended friendship to the Ajni-based woman and promised to marry with her. After trapping the woman, the accused established physical contact with the woman over a period from May 2010 to March 2014. The accused Himanshu also clicked obscene photos of the woman and threatened to go viral whenever the woman talked of marriage. But when the helpless woman persisted and reminded Himanshu of marriage promise, he threatened to kill her and other family members. The cheated and exploited woman finally decided to lodge a complaint with Ajni police in this connection.
API Gawande, acting on the complaint, booked the accused Himanshu Umbarkar under Sections 376, 506(B) of IPC and investigating the matter further.
