Man on morning walk knocked dead by truck in Pachpaoli

Nagpur: A man on morning walk was knocked dead by a speeding truck near Teka Masjid in Sidharth Nagar on Saturday. The driver of the killer truck fled the spot leaving behind his vehicle fearing public wrath.

The deceased Akhtar Ehsan Ahmed Sheikh (53) left home around 8 am on Saturday for a morning walk. Akhtar, who had hardly covered a distance and reached near Char Khamba Chowk, a recklessly driven truck (MH-31/AP 2456) hit him and injured him seriously. The bleeding Akhtar was taken to the GMCH by passersby but was declared during treatment. The driver of the truck fled the spot fearing backlash from nearby people.

Pachpaoli API Duble, based on a complaint lodged by Mumtaj Ahmed Ehsan Sheikh, booked the truck driver under sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the IPC and searching for him.
