
Nagpur: In a tragic late-night accident on Monday, a 25-year-old man lost his life and another was seriously injured when a speeding car rammed into a tree in front of Celebration Lawn, Chandika Nagar, Rameshwari, under the jurisdiction of Ajni Police Station in Nagpur.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Bhavesh Gopal Talekar (25), a resident of Plot No. 31, near Sai Mandir, Ayodhya Nagar, Hudkeshwar, Nagpur. The injured has been identified as Nihar Rajesh Asatkar, who is undergoing treatment at Neuron Hospital.
The incident occurred around 11:40 pm on October 28, 2025, when Bhavesh was travelling with his friends Shreyash Rajesh Patil, Nihar Rajesh Asatkar, and Shreyash Keshav Gaikwad in a car (MH 46 P 2056) from Besa towards Manewada. As the vehicle reached Chandika Nagar, driver Shreyash Gaikwad allegedly lost control of the car while driving at high speed in a rash and negligent manner, causing it to crash into a roadside tree.
The impact left Bhavesh Talekar and Nihar Asatkar critically injured. Both were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors declared Bhavesh dead on arrival.
Following a complaint lodged by Bhavesh’s uncle Ganesh Anantrao Talekar (47), a resident of Ayodhya Nagar, Ajni Police registered a case against driver Shreyash Gaikwad under Sections 281, 106(1), and 151(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police Sub-Inspector Bonde from Ajni Police Station is investigating the case further.
