Nagpur: Sonegaon police in Nagpur have arrested a 24-year old man on the charges of raping a 24-year old woman on the promise of marrying her.
The accused has been identified as Yogeshsingh Sureshsingh Shekhawat, resident of Airport Station, Sonegaon, Nagpur.
In her complaint, the victim woman, resident of Shanti Nagar in the city, told police that she works as Production Manager in a company situated near Jaiprakash Metro Station. She got acquainted with the accused on the Tinder App. The accused Shekhawat procured the mobile number of the victim and started talking with each other.
On December 9, 2023, the accused offered to celebrate her birthday at Airport OYO BNB Hotel, Jaiprakash Nagar, Somalwada. They reached the hotel around 10 am where the accused had kept a cake in the hotel room. After the cake cutting, both had food from a tiffin the woman had brought. Later, the accused told the woman that he likes her and wanted to marry her. With these words, the accused Shekhawat embraced her and established a physical relationship despite the woman protesting it. But the accused raped her four times on the same day. The accused also gave the woman a pill named Unwanted 72 to prevent pregnancy.
Thereafter the accused raped her again for four times on different days at the same Airport OYO BNB Hotel on the promise of marrying with her. However, after some days when the victim woman insisted the accused marry her, he bluntly refused. Subsequently, she lodged a complaint against the accused with Sonegaon police.
Police have booked the accused Yogeshsingh Shekhawat under Sections 376(2)(N), 417 of the IPC and probing the matter further. Currently the accused has been granted bail and roaming free.
