Nagpur: In Red Hot form, city youngster Malvika Bansod has made it to yet another final while Rohan Gurbani went down fighting in the semi-finals in the first-ever Khelo India Under-17 b a d – m i nton tour nament in progress at I n dir a Gandhi Stadium, on Wednesday. Top seed Malvika was stretched by fourth seed Uttarkhand’s Unnati Bisht in the first game. Malvika though kept her cool to take it 21-19.
The southpaw improved a lot in the next game to win 21-14 and book a date with second seed Chhattisgarh’s Aakarshi Kashyap. The final will be played on Thursday with Star Sports beaming the match live. Another upcoming player Rohan Gurbani, who was seeded eighth,gave his best in the first close game but lost steam in the second against a much fitter and faster Manipur’s fourth seeded M Maisnam. The lad from north-east won 21-19, 21-10.
