Nagpur: Intensifying its anti-narcotics drive, the Nagpur Police carried out a major operation under ‘Operation Thunder’, leading to the arrest of a 23-year-old man found in possession of MD drugs intended for sale.
Acting on confidential information, the Pachpaoli Police Station laid a trap on April 24 between 5:50 PM and 7:00 PM near Kamal Chowk in the busy Saturday Market area. During the operation, the accused—identified as Nitesh Sanjay Hedau (23), a resident of MHADA Quarters in Kapil Nagar—was apprehended while arriving on a Honda Activa (MH-49-CG-3946).
MD Drugs, Mobile Phone, and Vehicle Seized
During a search conducted in the presence of witnesses, police recovered 10.50 grams of MD powder (mephedrone), estimated to be worth ₹73,500, concealed in a zip-lock pouch. In addition, a mobile phone and the two-wheeler used in the operation were also seized. The total value of confiscated items is approximately ₹1.45 lakh.
Supplier Identified, Search Ongoing
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to procuring the drugs from Jagdish Gokhale (25), a resident of Kapil Nagar, with the intent to sell. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding supplier.
