Mumbai: The upcoming month is set to be politically significant for Maharashtra as the State Legislature’s Budget Session will commence on Monday, February 23, 2026, and continue until March 25, 2026. The State Budget will be presented in the House on March 6.
The schedule was finalized during the Business Advisory Committee meeting held in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The decision regarding the duration of the session was taken in meetings chaired by Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde and Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar.

Budget Presentation on March 6
It was decided that the State Budget will be tabled in the Assembly on March 6, marking the most crucial financial announcement of the year. The session is expected to deliberate on key social and economic issues impacting the state.
Tribute and Special Discussions
On the first day of the session, a condolence motion will be moved to pay tribute to former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Special discussions are also scheduled in view of the United Nations declaring the year as the “International Year of Women Farmers,” along with deliberations around International Women’s Day on March 9.
Holiday Schedule During Session
The session will observe holidays on account of Holi, Dhulivandan, and Gudi Padwa, though legislative work will continue on Saturday, February 28.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, along with other Cabinet ministers.
With the budget presentation and key policy debates lined up, the session is expected to set the political tone for Maharashtra in the coming months.
