Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University(MAFSU) to hold its 6th Convocation on Feb-26

Nagpur News : The Sixth Convocation of Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur (MAFSU) for conferment of Degrees on Successful candidates appeared in the examinations held in the academic year  2011-12 and 2012-13 will be held on February 26 at Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines, Nagpur.

The convocation will be held in the presence of Pro-Chancellor ,MAFSU,Nagpur Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development & Fisheries,Maharashtra, Madhukarrao Chavan. He will also preside over the function.Chairman , Agricultural scientists recruitment board,New Delhi, Dr.Gurbachan Singh  is the Chief Guest of the Convocation.

Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur (MAFSU) Prof.A.K.Mishra informed that total 785 degrees will be conferred  during convocation, out of which 638 belongs to the veterinary faculty, 84 to the fishery science faculty. In the Dairy technology faculty, 84 graduates will receive B. Tech. (D.T.) degree.  In the fishery faculty, 63 graduates will receive B.F.Sc degree. Over the years, the number of girls enrolling and graduating in veterinary,dairy and fishery is progressively increasing, it is 30% this convocation, added Prof Mishra.

Besides the conferment of degrees,the university will also award gold and silver medals . A total 32 medals, including 24 gold and 8 silver medals have been instituted for outstanding academic performance. These medals include 4 MAFSU gold medals, 18 discipline/ faculty wise gold medals , one gold medal to a student conducting a post-graduate research, especially in the area of veterinary alternative medicine concerned with Homeopathic, Ayurvedic, herbal and cow therapies, and one gold medal to the rural girl student with highest merit from amongst all the B.Tech degree students. Since, in sixth Convocation degrees are being conferred on the students of two academic years i.e.2011-12 and  2012-13, a total of 64 medals will be awarded.
