Nagpur: Picture this. A woman and a man got to friend each other on matrimonial site, and the friendship develops into close relationship. But it all turned out to be an act of love, sex and dhokha. The man in question is Amardeep Meshram, a 28-year-old environment engineer, who sexually exploited a woman (25) at his rented house in Ujjwal Nagar for over a year, and also forced her to terminate her pregnancy with pills. The woman claimed Meshram had first spiked her water with some drugs to click her lewd pictures, which he later used to blackmail her. Meshram, hails from Mul in Chandrapur district.
The offence of rape was registered at Sonegaon police station on Monday. Cops arrested the accused on Sunday night and produced him before the court on Monday. The woman, who stays at her relative’s place, told cops Meshram had proposed to marry her and demanded the first meeting to help build their relationship.
Cops said Meshram, employed in a private company, was staying alone though his younger brother resided in Kannamwar Nagar in Sonegaon. The survivor, an unemployed woman, first interacted with him last year on a social site in the first half of 2016. When he realized she was interested in him, he trapped her by spiking her water with medicines and taking her photographs.
“We have conducted the survivor’s medical examination but the reports will not be considered valid since she parted ways with him in May and approached cops a bit late. Meshram has changed his mobile device a few months back. So, we would have to search his place,” said PSI DG Sawant. The team would also verify social networking sites to check whether Meshram had uploaded any of her images, added Sawant.
