Nagpur: Laxminarayan Institute of Technology (LIT), run by RashtrasantTukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, recently organized an expert lecture delivered by Prof. Hiroshi Yokoyama, Director and Research Scholar of Liquid Crystal Institute (LCI), acting Director and Professor of Kent State University, Ohio, USA. Prof Yokoyama is working for over 35 years on nano science and technology of soft matter.

The Liquid Crystal Institute is the world’s first research center dedicated to liquid crystal science and technology, established by G.H. Blown in 1965, and played a major role in bringing the LCD industry to today’s status of a major electronics industry comparable with the semiconductor industry.

Prof Hiroshi Yokoyama presented a lecture on the topic “Liquid Crystal Display”. He started with the history of LCD and how they replaced the Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT). He stated that how this technology is very much efficient in comparison to the other available technologies. LCD, nowadays, is a part of daily life.
