Nagpur: Laxminarayan Institute of Technology a conducted Institute of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur established in 1942 has strong and wide spread Alumni base. Some of them are working in PSU’s; MNC’s and some have their own Industries in India and abroad too.

M. D. Pawde, Head of Economic-Planning & Optimization, Integrated Margin Management at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited interacted with final year students of B.Tech. (Chemical Engineering) and conducted a session about interview skills and gave some insightful yet ingenious tips on how to “navigate an interview”. An important part of the session was when a student enquired about what an interviewer looks for in a candidate in the course of an interview. To answer that he said “We look for coal with potential to become a diamond and polish them till they achieve that”.

After this interaction, M. G. Das, General Manager – Projects at Jacobs Engineering India Pvt Ltd, also a former student of LIT, told about various opportunities which a Chemical Engineer is entitled for and how experience in production engineering is important for further career opportunities such as process design, operation and maintenance.

Ashish Kumar Sony, a student from the 2005 batch of the institute, highlighted on increasing contribution of girls in production in chemical industries and encouraged them to get ready to work in shifts. Overall good interacting sessions with college alumni and students took place which enlightened the students about various skills and habits which will help them during campus placement drives and throughout their careers as well. Dr. R.B. Mankar the Director LIT guided the students, Dr. R.P.Ugwekar Head, Chemical Engineering facilitated the students for this interaction.
