Lifer convict, who jumped parole and went underground, nabbed by Crime Branch

Nagpur: A lifer convict, who jumped parole (furlough leave) and went underground, was traced and arrested by Crime Branch sleuths on Wednesday (June 8). The accused has been identified as Amol Purshottam Londhe (33) of Mhalgi Nagar. Amol was convicted and awarded life imprisonment in a murder case in Kotwali area and was lodged in Central Prison Nagpur.

The convict was granted parole for a period of two months – from 5.4.2016 to 5.6.2016. Amol was to report Central Prison authorities on June 5 after the end of parole period. However, the murder convict jumped the parole and went absconding. Subsequently, the Jail Superintendent lodged a complaint with police in this connection and an offence under Section 224 was registered against the accused.

The Crime Branch sleuths, around 1.30 pm on Wednesday (June 8), received information that the lifer convict Amol Londhe was spotted at his Mhalgi Nagar residence. Acting swiftly, Crime Branch men raided the house and arrested Amol.
