Nagpur: A casual dinner at Hotel Ashoka in Sadar, Nagpur, turned into a harrowing ordeal for a woman as she was chased by a gang of three men late at night. The Sadar Police have registered a case of molestation and initiated a search operation for the accused individuals.
According to information, on the evening of April 22, a group of women went to Hotel Ashoka in Sadar for dinner. Three men, seated at another table, began staring at the women in an indecent manner throughout their meal.
After leaving the hotel, the women proceeded to the parking area where they were followed by the three men. One of the women, upon entering her car to head home, was pursued by the accused who also got into an XUV 700 SUV, lacking a registration number.
The chase extended for approximately four kilometres amidst traffic, with the accused attempting to block the woman’s car and making lewd gestures towards her. Despite her shock, the woman managed to reach her residence. However, the ordeal did not end there. One of the assailants disembarked from the SUV and entered the lobby of the woman’s house. Through CCTV footage, the woman observed the intruder’s movements and promptly alerted her husband about the incident.
Sadar Police registered a case of molestation based on the woman’s complaint. Senior police officials have taken the matter seriously and initiated a comprehensive manhunt for the accused.
Given the lack of a registration number on the SUV, the police have faced challenges in identifying the perpetrators. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone II, Rahul Madne, disclosed that they have circulated images of the suspects captured in the CCTV footage. Additionally, the DCP urged citizens to come forward with any information or identification of the culprits.
The investigation is ongoing, with the police actively pursuing leads and seeking public cooperation to apprehend the individuals involved in the disturbing incident.
The incident underscores the need for heightened vigilance and swift action against such brazen acts of harassment and intimidation. It also highlights the importance of community engagement in assisting law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
