Nagpur: P K Malhotra, secretary, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India visited Institute of Military Law (IML), Kamptee on 19 Aug 2015. The hon’ble secretary has more than 30 years experience in handling complex issues in the Ministry of Law. In his illustrious career, some of the important assignments held by Malhotra include being the chairman, adjudicating authority under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, judicial member, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, legal adviser to the Government of Guyana on foreign assignment in South America, legal adviser to Ministry of Finance.
During his visit to the IML, the secretary addressed the officers attending the MLSC-44. He stressed the importance of a systems having data centrally collected and collated from all the various departments of Govt. of India so that it could facilitate better assimilation and appreciation of circumstances influencing the decision of the court besides making the monitoring of the legal cases easier. The hon’ble secretary appreciated the work and effort being put in by IML in imparting instruction in Military and Allied Laws to the military rank and file.
While explaining the functioning of the of Ministry of Law & Justice, he apprised audience of the National Litigation Policy and how it aims at regulating the litigation in the country and reduces the pendency rate.
