Nagpur: In a brazen act, a landlord bulldozed a person’s shop in a midnight operation in Garoba Maidan area on Sunday. When the shopkeeper came to know about demolition of his shop, it was too late. Not only his shop razed but Rs 50,000 in cash and goods worth lakhs were also stolen. Lakadganj police have reportedly arrested a person in this connection.

According to reports, Rajesh Hari Singhal runs a shop named Hari Auto Parts at Plot No. 54, Garoba Maidan, Gangabai Ghat Road. The property is owned by Baburao Shuddalwar. A dispute was running between Singhal and Shuddalwar to vacate the shop. On Sunday night, the landlord apparently lost patience and took the law into his hands, brazenly. He hired a JCB machine and straightaway drove it into Singhal’s auto parts shop and demolished it in parts in the midnight operation. The goods in the shop were dumped in bags and taken away. In the meanwhile, Rajesh Singhal, who was informed about the demolition “drive,” reached the spot in the midnight but it was too late. Seeing the Singhal family, the JCB driver fled the spot.

Holding the landlord Shuddalwar responsible for bulldozing of his shop, Rajesh registered a case with Lakadganj police in this regard. He also pointed finger towards the role of police as without their “connivance” such a task could not have been accomplished. In his complaint, Rajesh has told police that Rs 50,000 kept in cash counter and other goods worth lakhs have gone missing.

Lakadganj police registered a case and reportedly arrested the JCB driver.
