Nagpur:
The District Collector Sachin Kurve has put those centres who have been recovering charges for registration of Aadhar cards on notice. “Aadhar registration is Central Government’s project of priority. Various organizations are doing registration of Aadhar cards in Nagpur District free of cost. It is a serious offence to recover charges for registration of the vital document,” warned Kurve and added that people should desist from paying charges for the job.

The District Collector was flooded with complaints from people registering for getting Aadhar cards. The centres doing the registration were found recovering charges for the job where it is to be done free of any charges. People have been urged to approach District Collector’s office or lodge written complaints at the website uid.nagpur@gmail.com if the centres demand money for registration of Aadhar cards.

Charges for update of Aadhar cards and for PVC Smart Cards have been fixed as Rs 15 and Rs 30 respectively. No centre should recover more than the fixed charges for the job. “Registration drive for Aadhar cards is being implemented in the district. Those citizens who have still not procured the cards should register for receiving the vital document,” appealed the District Collector.
