
Nagpur: A tragic incident occurred in the Kamptee area of Nagpur district on Sunday morning after a massive gas cylinder explosion. One boy lost his life due to suffocation, while around 10 people were injured, creating panic in the locality.
According to reports, Atul alias Bunty Pantawane was living with his family in the Gandhinagar Bhaji Mandi area. On Sunday morning, his wife went to the kitchen to prepare tea when a gas leak caused a fire, followed by a powerful cylinder explosion.
The fire quickly spread across the house within minutes. While other family members managed to escape, Atul Pantawane got trapped inside a bedroom and died due to suffocation.
Relatives and neighbors who tried to extinguish the fire also sustained injuries. The injured include Vinay Pantawane, Nitin Pantawane, Sandhya Dhawale, and others. All are reported to have suffered minor injuries.
Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control. However, by then, the entire household was destroyed. The loss is estimated to be around ₹5 lakh.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation. Meanwhile, local residents have demanded financial assistance from the government for the affected family.
