Nagpur district’s Kamptee town has become the center of a heated political debate after a series of hoardings critical of the Congress party appeared in the city.
The controversy began after Congress launched its “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” (Vote thief, leave the chair) campaign from Kamptee on September 3, highlighting alleged irregularities in the state assembly elections. In response, unknown individuals have put up hoardings across Kamptee carrying the slogan, “Shetkaranchya Paise Chor, Chor Machaye Shor” (Those who stole farmers’ money, now shouting thief).
The hoardings question, “Which Congress leader is the real speaker behind these words?” but do not reveal who installed them. This has sparked speculation that political opponents of Congress are behind the move.
The hoardings have intensified the political atmosphere in both Kamptee and the wider Nagpur district, raising questions about the growing war of words between parties in the lead-up to elections.
