Mumbai: Nearly twelve days after the deadly blaze at the Kamala Mills compound killed 14 including 13 patrons, absconding accused, owners of resto-bar 1 Above Kripesh and Jigar Sanghvi and Abhijeet Mankar have been arrested by the Mumbai Police. Mankar’s arrest on Thursday was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Virendra Mishra.

While the Sanghvi brothers were arrested from Bandra in suburban Mumbai on late Wednesday evening, Mankar was arrested in wee hours of Thursday. The arrests comes days after the Mumbai Police arrested hotelier and alleged cricket bookie Vishal Kariya who provided workable leads to the Mumbai Police. Kariya is a close family friend of the accused.

The police has now concentrated its efforts to trace the owner of Mojo’s Bristo, Yug Tulli who is still at large. Tulli is the only accused who is absconding in the case.

Owners of the two adjacent resto-bars — 1 Above and Mojo’s Bristo and hotelier Kariya have been booked in the case. They all have been charged under the stringent section of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under the Indian Penal Code.

The city police has formed at least seven teams that are fanned across the country to arrest the accused. The last workable lead on the owner of the other resto-bar, Mojo’s Bistro, who is a co-accused in the main case, was on Sunday when Yug Tulli, along with his newly-wedded wife, was spotted at Hyderabad airport. “Tulli fled to Hyderabad to his paternal home along with his wife on Sunday morning. His immediate family, including his father are also in Hyderabad. His father had left Hyderabad when our team reached Nagpur to summon him. We are still trying to trace where the couple has fled,” said another officer.
