Nagpur: A shocking information has come to light that ASI Shivaji Mundhe, who attached to Kalameshwar Police Station, allegedly took the owner of the family restaurant ‘Moonbugs’ near T-Point, Amravati Road, Gondkheri, to the police station and brutally thrashed him, according to a report in Marathi daily Sattadhish.

According to the report, an entrepreneur named Khushwant Bajaj leased the site from late Sagaradevi Mukhtiar Singh Dongra in 2019 as per the agreement. Bajaj later spent Rs 35 lakh on the deserted dhaba and started the business by renovating it. But in the meantime Sagaradevi died and her three daughters and three sons-in-law planned to sell the land to a builder. It has come to light that this place is about to be sold and this is the reason why Bajaj has been facing nasty police ‘action,’ the report said.

The report further said that Bajaj has also filed a written complaint in Kalameshwar Police Station against this beating by ASI Shivaji Mundhe and yet this young entrepreneur has not received any justice from the police department. Bajaj set up his own business in his own rightful city where he completed his education. But he is now being forced to leave the city of Nagpur and live in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. Currently, the restaurant is being managed by his manager and it has been alleged that ASI Shivaji Mundhe is constantly threatening to vacate the place.

According to Sattadhish report, even before the outbreak of Corona, Bajaj rented a total of 9,000 square feet of land owned by Sagaradevi on Amravati Road. Interestingly, while renting this place, Sagaradevi’s three daughters also wrote a ‘consent letter’ to Bajaj. In the letter, a rent of Rs 20,000 was mentioned. Bajaj initially invested Rs 19 lakh to renovate this dhaba, but the outbreak of corona virus started and the lockdown began.

In the meantime, Sagaradevi died. After her death, her daughters decided to sell this place to another big builder without any consultation with Bajaj. But after the wave of Corona subsided, Bajaj invested more money in this place and constructed a family restaurant at this place by spending about Rs 35 lakh. The place was completely deserted when it was taken on rent basis by Bajaj. He constructed security walls, main door, rooms etc. on this place at his own expense, the report clamed.

Bajaj also requested Sagaradevi’s daughters and sons-in-law that if they want to sell this place, he will take it at the price quoted by them, but they refused. Sagaradevi’s son-in-law came to the restaurant before the end of the contract and ordered Bajaj to vacate the place immediately. At the time, Bajaj clearly told them that the land could not be vacated before the agreement ends.

According to the report, during the dispute, ASI Shivaji Mundhe suddenly got ‘entry’ in this case in all these developments. Bajaj’s manager got a call from Kalameshwar Police Station at 1 am and was asked to send Bajaj to the police station immediately. As Bajaj reached the police station, the ASI reportedly ordered him to put his signature on a blank paper.

The ASI Mundhe allegedly threatened Bajaj and told him to vacate the place of Sagaradevi immediately. Or else he will invoke a Section he will not even get bail! With such words, the police officer in a constitutional position threatened the common dhaba operator, the Sattadhish report stated.

As a result, the next day, Bajaj went to his lawyers and sent a notice to the heirs of Sagaradevi through the lawyers. At 2 o’clock in the same night, Shivaji Mundhe reached Bajaj’s restaurant and threatened the employees of the restaurant and threatened them leave the place immediately, or else a case will be slapped against them. This showed that the police officer was taking law into his own hands with his threatening postures, the report clamed.

Bajaj gave a copy of the notices prepared by the lawyers to the SP and DSP. Their complaint was received by PI Sheikh of Kalameshwar Police Station and the acknowledgement was also given to Bajaj. From time to time, the police officer came to the restaurant and threatened the owner and the manager in Singham style. He ordered the owner ‘Stand up’ and pulled the chair with his own hand and sat in Singham style. Such a video has gone viral, the report said.

The report further claimed that Bajaj was taken to Kalameshwar Police Station at 3.30 pm on April 7, 2022 and beaten mercilessly in a room where there is no CCTV. When Bajaj pushed the officer in order to save himself from the beating, Mundhe allegedly trampled him with his police shoes. After this incident, Bajaj reached the Mayo Hospital at 6 pm. A CT scan conducted there revealed severe injuries to his neck and abdomen.

Bajaj claims that he faced the police brutalities to withdraw the complaint lodged by him against the ASI Shivaji Mundhe. Bajaj alleged that some seniors in the police department also put pressure on him to withdraw the complaint. Even after this, as Bajaj refused to withdraw the complaint, Shivaji Mundhe came to his restaurant and gave a serious threat to him that ‘withdraw the complaint otherwise Section 354 (molestation) will be imposed against him. “I have ‘women’ ready, you will not even be allowed to get bail,’ said the police officer, the Sattadhish report claimed.

According to the report, Bajaj was even given reference of Union Minister of State Anurag Thakur to withdraw the complaint. As Sagaradevi’s daughters are related to Himachal Pradesh and Anurag Thakur is also aware of the matter. Bajaj was even told that Thakur’s Personal Assistant had phoned police officers at Kalameshwar Police Station regarding withdrawal of his complaint, the Sattadhish report said.
