Nagpur: Justice Sharad Bobde, who is a Nagpurian educated and trained in law here and has also practised in the Nagpur High court for many years has added another feather to his cap. The chief Justice of India has appointed him as Chancellor of the Mumbai N.L.U. after occupying this post at the proposed National Law School at Uni. since some time now.
Work on the Nagpur School is progressing fast and one could see Justice Bobde busy planning and discussing a unique curriculum for it in hectic discussions with the law fraternity of Nagpur.
“With the space and resources available for it, Nagpur shall definitely be one of the best Law Universities in India” opine many.
A third such University is being planned in Aurangabad too.
A point to note is that the idea behind starting these Universities dedicated to the education of Law was to create more capable lawyers and judges. But the sad fact is that the pass outs from here are being picked up fast by big Corporates who offer them lucrative packages.
To encourage youngsters to go into the practise of Law instead of taking on a cushy job, the University at Nagpur will design special courses in public speaking and effective communication which will help them in this venture.
